Halloween Fun and Recent News

We had a lot of fun on Halloween. Halloween is my FAVORITE holiday. Yes, even more then Christmas. Don't get me wrong, I love the Holiday season (who doesn't?) but there is just something about Halloween... We were the cast of the Wizard of Oz, can you tell? Pat is the Tin Man, I'm Dorothy, and B was the cutest Cowardly Lion ever!

So... I've been saying forever that I was going to get some video of B up here, but I don't think it's happening anytime soon. I decided to post a series of pictures instead. First a little background... So he has been doing this little creep which we've dubbed the "army crawl" since the five month mark. I thought for sure he'd be crawling by six months. Then the seventh month mark rolled around and still no real crawling going on. At about a week after he turned seven months we got on film an actual crawl. Just a few moves up on his hands and knees. So then we thought for sure by the weekend he was going to take off and just be crawling like a mad man. Well he still is getting up on his hands and knees for a little bit, but is mostly doing his belly crawl. So a few days ago we are all in the living room and B decides to do this little trick....

Do you like our barricade? We had to get inventive... what is it with dog food? I swear it's like a magnet for babies. We need a gate so bad. Anyway... We could not believe that B pulled himself up a few days ago. He hasn't even really crawled yet! We can tell he is so ready to be on the move though, he get's so frustrated with his limited ability to get around. It's a little sad that he's getting so big so fast... I wish they could stay little for longer. Before I know it I'm going to have a toddler!! (sniff). Oh by the way... B is NOT a nickname for the little man. I just don't like using his name on here :)

Oh, also. B has two more teeth coming in. So the count is six.

Grab some Klennex

I saw this on Oprah yesterday and had to post this video. At the end Oprah was interviewing the parents and the mom said that she told her husband everyday, I'll be sad later right now I'm going to enjoy every moment. This kind of stuff makes me so grateful for how blessed Pat and I are! Seriously grab some Klennex!

A week of firsts and a new birth :)

So the big firsts this past week were... Brooks had his first hair cut. My mom came over and we kind of just buzzed it with the clippers. I only have an inch guard on the ones I use to cut Pat's hair. So she brought over her inch and a quarter guard. That baby fine hair is not the easiest thing to get even, even with the swiftness of clippers. But because it's a little shorter, and somewhat even now I had to do a spikey do. Now he really is my little Pat clone :).

The other first was my very first batch of homemade Halloween sugar cookies. Yes completely homemade, even the frosting. And they were SUCH a pain in my arse that I do believe it may also be the very last batch ;). They were yummy though.

And we also added one more boy to the family. Pat's Bro had his baby over the weekend. He is such a cutie. So we now have three boy cousins on Pat's side (the first grand babies too btw) that are about three months apart from each other. Brooks and Alex being six months apart, Jack in the middle three months from Brooks and three months apart from Alex, does that make sense? Holidays are going to be a handful in the future. Brooks was almost the exact same size as little Alex and I still can't not believe my little monster was ever that little...or sweet. (jk).

Cedar Breaks

It was so pretty on Cedar Mountain this weekend. We couldn't believe how much snow that storm dropped up there. I felt really bad too in these pictures of us on the Cedar Breaks lookout, I forgot to bring a beanie for Brooks... he kept shivering. We were only out there for a little while though. I'm hoping he doesn't catch a
cold from it.

Pat would like me to point out to everyone that Brooks is wearing a Chargers outfit. (GO GIANTS :D)

I can't believe it's already been six months. I have a video too of his army crawl he's been doing lately. When I figure out how I'll get it on here:)

Holiday weekend and the Battle of Mommy & B

We had a fantastic weekend. We walked down to Peach Days on Saturday morning and had a blast walking around all the booths. We enjoyed the food (not Navajo Tacos... the line was too long) and some fresh squeezed lemonades.. yum yum. Pat had never been to Peach Days!! Then Pat had his 10 year HS reunion. It was such a blast. We had a great time seeing everyone again. Charity did a great job throwing it together last minute!! Thanks again Charity, we had such a great time! Of course like always, Pat and I forgot to bring our camera to either event. So here are a few stolen pic's from the reunion... Pat was off gabbing (imagine that) :D.

Then Sunday we slept in and Pat enjoyed some quality "net surfing" with B.

Later we went to Pat's mom's for dinner. The weather was so nice it was officially the first "outside" bbq since spring. When we left B was not too happy about being in his car seat. Look at those sad eyes :(

Last, but not least. I finally got a picture of the little teefers. This is a rare occurrence these past few days, B being this smiley. Mom has decided that it is time for him to sleep in his own bed. Yes I committed a big mommy sin (according to my mom and many other friends)... B has been sleeping in our bed. It's just easier since I breastfeed... and ya, so I'm lazy... we all knew this, right? So anyway, we've had about three days of battling to see who is more stubborn. Mommy is winning :). Nap time has not been too much of a struggle. Since I have been putting him in his swing since he was born for nap time. So he's use to being put down so to speak for that. Bed time has been a whole other issue. The first night I just did a little. I got him to sleep, put him in his crib and then when he woke about an hour later... I just brought him back into bed with me... then the next night was two bouts of nursing, rocking and crib. Then into bed with us at about 2am. However I am proud to report, after two hours of struggling at bed time last night (It's a good thing I got started at 8) he fell asleep in his own crib and slept without a peep till 5:30 this morning. And of course he came into bed with us then. So we are definitely making some progress! I'm feeling so good about it too because he does not sleep that well when he's in bed with us... he usually wakes up and wants to nurse back to sleep two times nightly. So for him to have a full (well almost) night's rest in his crib made me feel so good. I read in one of my books that this can take up to a month before he will get into the routine of sleeping in his own bed without a fight. I didn't think I was up for it, but I've worked some of my own styles of parenting into the routine (I cannot let him lay there and cry it out... no freakin way) and it seems to be working. I'll keep ya'll posted... I'm sure this is riveting stuff ;)
