Breaking Dawn
If you have not finished reading Breaking Dawn to not continue to read this Post. I hate when people spoil books so have some control, even if you are dying to know what happens and stop reading now :)
I LOVED the last book in Stephanie Myers Twilight series. I've heard a lot of interesting things from people that didn't really like it. First of all I'd just like to express my opinion on one broad point. It's fiction people, It bothers me when things like teen pregnancy and other real issues come into debate with works of fiction. If kids have a good foundation at home and parents who are willing to be open with their children about such issues as sex, and teen pregnancy then there is no need to blame these problems on literature. Be a responsible parent don't blame it on the books. (In my opinion).
Okay on to the review....
I loved, seriously loved everything SM did with the last book. I love all the characters in SM twilight series and I am a big happy ending person. If you want reality endings... read a documentary ;).
I did not see the pregnancy thing coming... but totally saw the imprinting thing coming. After all the ware wolf (or I guess shape shifting stuff) and imprinting in the previous books, I didn't think Jacob's imprinting was that big of a stretch. It surprises me so many people had that big of an issue with it. I did not dislike Jacob, but I did not want Bella to choose him over Edward either. I thought that SM wrote this whole intertwined family idea beautifully. I loved that Bella and Jacob were drawn together because they were meant to be in each other lives, just not in the most obvious way. I know a lot of people think Bella is a selfish character, but I think that it added to the character dynamics to have the relationship complications... So I really thought it was fitting that Jacob was released from his pain and still was part of Bella's love and family. I mean how else could that have turned out... Jacob leaving forever, hurt... I think I'll take the imprinting and happiness :)
I loved Bella as a Vamp. She finally was the strong one that came to everyone else's rescue and I totally got behind that. I loved that she wasn't the clumsy mortal anymore. I thought SM did a fantastic job with the emotions in this book (all of them for that matter) and Bella emotions and protectiveness as a new mother and her place in her family, I could totally relate to. And I like her daughters name... I like that it was a tribute in sorts to her and Edwards parents. Pat and I tried to combine names like that for B's middle name and we couldn't come up with a good one. I really thought that was a cool idea. I also enjoyed the absolute love within a family unit that was portrayed in this book. Very cool! I know a lot of people were disappointed that Bella didn't destroy the Volturi, but I thought it a nice change of pace that there was not as much killing in this book. Mostly preservation and survival.
I think Stephanie Myers is such a good author. I really like how this last book was written. I thought it was good closer. Even if there are some spin off novels, I don't think that they will be centered around Edward and Bella and I'm actually okay with that. I feel like it was a good ending and I'm not feeling like I am still left hoping their story will go on. I think SM is so talented how she makes you feel the emotion of the characters so well, how you can see and feel and taste the scene she is portraying. This will definitely be a series of books I re-read. 5 out of 5 stars for me!

1. I hate lettuce on food, but love salads. (It's the warm stuff with the cool crispness of lettuce that crosses me out... like lettuce on hamburgers.. YUCK)
2. I have to make my bed and it has to be perfect... blankets hanging evenly on both sides, no wrinkle, etc... I can not get in a bed to go to sleep until it's made and the sheets are smooth.
3.An addition to the quirk above.. Once I make the bed there is NO laying on it and messing it up (Pat loves my obsession with my made bed :))
4. I have to stay focussed when I clean the house. I have to force myself to do one room at a time. If I don't, when I enter another room I sometimes get distracted by something else I need to get done, and then it takes me forever to finish.
5. I can completely tune out everything when I'm reading a book. In fact a read in front of the TV a lot. Pat loves this cuz it means he gets ignored a lot when I'm reading a book.
6. I do not like sweats. At family birthday parties I am the only one not eating Cake and Ice cream. (This was not always the case when I was pregnant however)

Something New
So you could say I have this compulsive disorder. I change my hair at least a half a dozen times a year (Pat's sis Erin can vouch for this). My mom does hair so it's become an easy habit to develop. Anytime I'm feeling like I just need a change. If I'm down. If I'm feeling in a rut. If I watch a movie and their is an actress with a really cute hair do. I've grown it out several times (which takes me like a year and a half) and then just when it gets to the length I wanted... I usually chop it off into a bob (which is my most favorite hair cut on the planet). So, it's usually just a hair style that I change... involving a cut. But I decided to do something totally drastic. Well it's the most drastic thing I could think of, without doing something else I've always wanted to do... cut my hair REALLY short. Like Ashley Judd short, I love her hair, maybe someday. So, after high lighting my hair since I was 15, I am now... dun dun dun, a BRUNETTE :)

Other updates... Pat is on his last class for his Bachelor's program. We are so proud of him. He's been through a lot this year and has still managed to stick with school. B has two teeth now. His bottom two, it's really cute when he smiles to see two little teeth. They haven't fully come in all the way yet but they are making good progress... He's a recent picture of the smiley guy. I couldn't really get a clear shot of the pearly whites.

Mohawks and Pools and Teeth, Oh My!
I love having a little boy, he's just all boy and it's so much fun. I look forward to rough housing and tonka trucks and all things boyish.... but I have to confess seeing these baby girls with the bows and the jewelry, I'm a little envious. So I did what I could to "dress up" B.
This just cracks me up. B's first real hair do. We've actually done the Mohawk a few times but last weekend was the first picture I've gotten of it. He's so funny... totally working the tough guy attitude.
Another new fun developement is that we got a POOL! Okay, okay so it's nothing to cool. Just one of those like 10ft by 3ft pools, and Pat and I find it a little funny that we sit down in it and it barley covers our shoulders. But it's actually a really good way to beat the heat, and B LOVES it. Here he is rockin his stylin shades and his turtle floaty. We had so much fun just watching him enjoy the water that it makes up for it only being 3ft deep.
Here's a better picture where you can actually see the size of the pool. But hey, like I said it's actually really nice way to survive our hot desert summers.
And last, but not least... we finally have a tooth people. I had my doubts that B actually was teething this early and that it may be something else he was suffering from. But my new mommy doubts were put to rest last night when I felt the little sucker as it broke through the gums. It's the bottom right tooth. And in the last 24 hours we have had quite a few finger flicks to the cheek during breast feeding sessions... it's a sharp little thing. I'm not so sure how I feel about the prospect of more sprouting while I'm still breast feeding :) (sorry no pictures of the little tooth... B wouldn't stop squirming long enough for me to get a good shot.)
